Also, I ordered their veggie sub, which is pretty much what I always order. A creature of habit am I and all that. And I’ve just remembered that I was about eight or nine the first time I ordered their veggie sub. I ordered it because The Big Gay Dad ordered it and I was in the phase of doing everything just like he did it. And he ordered it with everything on it. So I ordered it with everything on it.
It was my first exposure to hot peppers. I remember sitting in one of their booths that was all covered and cozy and old wood and odd signs and such and biting into my sandwich and having my tongue and lips blaze up. It was so surprising that I just started laughing my head off.
And thus began my hot (get it?) and steamy love affair with spicy food.
